Cordaid has been active in South Sudan for more than 20 years, with a strong focus on civil society capacity-building. Currently, it has programs in the area of Emergency Response, DRR, Health, Food Security, Security & Justice, Women Leadership, and Investments.

Presently, Cordaid is expanding its program in different parts of the country. For that purpose, additional technical capacity is required. Therefore, Cordaid would like to recruit a Senior Project Manager: Agribusiness Development Programme as detailed below,

Reporting line

The Senior Project Manager: Agribusiness Development Programme reports to Programme Manager: Resilience and Livelihood

Purpose of the Position:

S/he will be the technical and operational leader of SSADP implementation. S/He will be responsible for ensuring successful implementation of this 4+years, Netherlands Embassy funded programme through providing strategic leadership, technical oversight and direct management field coordinators related to the programme.

A key function of this role will be managing the effective relationship with consortium agencies.

Responsibility and Accountabilities

a) PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT

  1. Provide technical and managerial oversight and leadership of the South Sudan Agribusiness Development Project (SSADP) including identification of farmers group, potential MSMEs, financial analysis, business plan generation and revision, market analysis, building market and distribution channels, and accessing finance for SSADP target in order to ensure enhanced agricultural diversity production and processing; Improved access and availability of good quality inputs; Output market develop; New agri-businesses created and Jobs created, especially for women and youth entrepreneurship, competitiveness, and investment-readiness within the project’s key Value Chains.

  2. Specific tasks include: a. Lead and manage all aspects of the programme cycle: design, planning, implementation, quality and accountability, monitoring and evaluation. b. Day to day management of the operation and technical aspect of the project. c. Support contracting of external consultants were required to address grantee capacity needs. d. Work in close liaison and ensure effective communication with Programme Manager, consortium members, and other stakeholders.

b) OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  1. Ensure that the programme is implemented using value for money principles for effective and efficient delivery.
  2. Supervise the project team, other staff, and consultants and facilitate effective teamwork and coordination
  3. Manage the programme budget in close collaboration with the Programme Manager and Finance Officer to his/her authorization limit.
  4. Compile periodic programme reports as required by the donor and Cordaid South Sudan.
  5. Ensure compliance by consortium members and partners with contract requirements in planning, financial management, procurement, branding, monitoring and reporting, and facilitate further training where necessary.
  6. Ensure all programming, financial and administrative matters related to the programme comply with donor and Cordaid policies and procedures and are transparent, expediently and effectively managed in line with established processes, rules and regulations.
  7. Monitor external context and carry out adjustments to project plans, where necessary in consolation with programme manager and consortium members.
  8. Conduct periodic reviews of staff performance in keeping with Cordaid ’s performance management system and mentor staff to ensure high levels of motivation, commitment, capacity, and teamwork.
  9. Ensure all Cordaid safety and security guidelines are followed and that all safety or security incidents are recorded and reported.
  10. Ensure efficient use, management and reporting of project resources and administrative expenses.
  11. Attend to other duties as instructed by Programme Manager.

Qualification required

  1. MSc. In Agricultural economics, Agribusiness Development, entrepreneurship and/or any other relevant field of studies.
  2. 10+ years of experiences in agribusiness development, agriculture value chain, enterprise and cooperative developments, and other relevant experiences and expertise.
  3. At least five years’ experiences working with farmer’s groups, farmer cooperatives, microenterprise, small and medium enterprises and related sectors with recognized International NGO.
  4. Experience in agribusiness and enterprise development and/or running an agribusiness enterprise is a plus.
  5. Experience in working and coordinating with international and national partners, government and donor agencies.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, farmer group business development and strengthening private sector participation in markets is essential.
  7. Excellent project planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; with experience as a trainer, coaching is essential.
  8. Previous experiences in South Sudan and East African in the area of agribusiness will have strong value. Regional applicants have an added advantage.
  9. Experience in managing 5 million-plus budget project and team management experiences with an international organization.
