Background

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office of Information Management and Technology (OIMT) in Copenhagen is responsible for supporting UNDP Country Offices around the world with ICT and Green Energy solutions. Our Unit offers a stimulating and versatile internship in an international environment with contact to various partners from some 166 countries with UNDP presence. We are a team who work in a dynamic and informal atmosphere, and we expect our interns to become vital members of the team.

Project Description:

Deployment of PCMM (Power Consumption, Monitoring & Measurement) devices in Country Offices and adoption of Smart Premises for UNDP has given rise to need for suitable tools to be put in place so as to fully reap the benefits from both areas. A number of reports, data, and information are to be generated for use by different stakeholders, including staff members, donors, UNDP management, and technical support staff. The project aims to address the two broad areas, namely global dashboard for reporting on power usage in the organization, and Smart Premises Index for monitoring and ranking adaption status across Country Offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities are primarily to assist with the development of Global Dashboard and Smart Premises Index through the following activities:

1. Assist in the development of Global Dashboard

  • Visualization Design – designing the look and feel of the dashboard
  • Technical Design – interactive, live data, resilient, auto-generation of basic reports, data export feature, effective formulas, fast loading of pages, etc.
  • Data Collection – automatic collection from PCMMs across COs and other systems within OIMT, user-friendly forms for manual data entry

2. Smart Premises Index

  • Visualization Design – designing the look and feel of the Index
  • Technical Design – custom views, auto-generation of basic reports, data export feature, effective formulas, fast loading of pages, etc.
  • Data Collection – automatic collection different systems within OIMT (e.g. SolarWinds NMS), user-friendly forms for manual data entry

3. Country Office Document Library

  • Reorganize the document repository (SharePoint list) to improve on layout and look-and-feel
  • Standardize attributes for all types of documents generated within OIMT and Country Offices

4. Additional responsibilities will cover the following:

  • Maintain and develop OIMT support pages on our SharePoint Intranet and develop SharePoint applications using a toolset including: Nintex Workflows, InfoPath forms, Microsoft Flow and PowerApps
  • Assist in the deployment and configuration of SharePoint Online (SPO) sites
  • Support web-based document management, collaboration and business process automation solutions for Country Office worldwide on UNDP’s corporate platforms based on Office 365 (including SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2013), JavaScript (jQuery and other advanced frameworks), InfoPath Designer, Nintex Workflows, HTML5, PHP and/or .NET

Competencies

Applying your Skills Beyond ICT:

·         Develop knowledge management and collaboration best practices;

·         Participating in global conference calls with Country Offices around the world;

·         Promote the OIMT’s overall ICT strategic framework and work plan pertaining to the minimum ICT standards, infrastructure, and connectivity dimensions;

·         Develop quality focused procedures, instructions and templates from best practice and disseminate through a Practice Community;

·         Supporting colleagues in administrative assignments and other ad hoc duties.

Technical skills of best Candidate:

·         Has good knowledge of Microsoft cloud technologies (Office 365, SharePoint Online, Azure) and back office platform (SharePoint, SQL) and frameworks (.NET, PowerShell, etc.)

·         Has good knowledge of web-based development with one or more of the following platforms: PHP, JavaScript, or .NET. Also, has experience working with state-of-the art frameworks extending those platforms, such as jQuery, NodeJS, etc.

·         Has experience in one or more of the Microsoft collaboration and productivity tools: Office 2013 and later, SharePoint 2010 and later, PowerBI, Yammer;

·         Has experience and ability in using business intelligence tools, for example: gathering, consolidating and analysing data from databases and reports

·         Experience and knowledge in at least one of the following SharePoint skillsets: site management, document management, and “app” development with InfoPath forms and Nintex Workflows is highly desirable

·         Experience with relational databases (schemas, design) and XML is a highly desirable

·         Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Webtrends, etc.) is highly desirable

·         Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, graphic design and web standards/best practices is highly desirable

·         Knowledge of Nintex Workflows, PowerShell, .NET platform, and/or C# programming is an advantage

·         Interest in developing sustainable solutions for country offices, focusing on MS Office platform and tools;

·         Fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage;

·         Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.

Required Skills and Experience

Pre-requisite for candidate (to be shown in CV)

·         You must meet one of the following requirements:

o   You are currently in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree; or

o   You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or

o   You have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a master’s degree or equivalent studies

….in the field of ICT Engineer/Software Developer;

·         Fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage;

·         Knowledge and a proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools, such as SharePoint and Power BI.

Conditions

·         UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship; however, you will gain valuable insight into UNDP and a global network;

·         All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;

·         UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;

·         The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;

·         Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship;

·         The intern must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan;

·         Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;

·         You are expected to work full time but flexibility is allowed for your education programme;

·         Eligibility for residency and undertaking internship in Denmark;

·         The intern will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation etc.
