Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, the Area Manager (AM) is responsible for leading the implementation strategies of Community Engagement programming in a cluster of communities. Through a team of Program Officers that s/he manages, the AM will steer program strategy, programming and respond to management requests for information. Additionally, the AM is responsible for drafting weekly and monthly reports analyzing their communities’ progress. Ultimately, the AM is responsible for all programming, and operational oversight of the communities under area of supervision.

Reporting & Supervision:

The Community Engagement Area Manager reports to the Community Engagement Manager and manages Program Officers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate when new hiring is needed and work with HR team to recruit all Program Officers (POs) and Field Officers (FOs) within their area of operation
  • Ensure that the POs and FOs have the training required in order to properly communicate and present the program at field level
  • Through the management of the POs, steer program implementation based on the Community Engagement work plan and be able to assist POs and FOs to troubleshoot and prioritize programming
  • Guide the formation of community security working groups, completion of needs assessment, drafting of project proposals and oversight of programmatic implementation of funded programing
  • Review, analyze and compile the weekly and monthly reports
  • Ensure that all log frame output information is being tracked correctly in each community and that the team understands how to report
  • Support program needs as may be determined by management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in program implementation and working in humanitarian or international development organizations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with different teams
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office package, Gmail, internet research, and social media
  • This position is for Jordanian and Syrian nationals with excellent Arabic and English skills in both writing and speaking
  • Able to work with cross-border projects either in private sector, NGOs or International organization.
  • Previous program management and supervisory experience
  • Valid work authorization for Jordan

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Syria and the sensitivities of working in a conflict-affected area
  • Experience conducting trainings
  • Experience with remote management of teams
