The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

NRC is looking for senior, experienced professionals to help transform how we manage risk in the Middle East. The organisation has one of the most extensive humanitarian operations in the region, with significant programmes across Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. If you have an understanding of complex operations in extremely high risk contexts, and have the experience and creativity to change how a large international organization approaches and manages these risks, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are currently looking to recruit a Regional Risk Management Coordinator for our Middle East Regional Office.

For this key role our ideal candidate is:

A University Graduate in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience within the humanitarian field.  They have a professional knowledge of project management and Risk Management specifically, developing / implementing Risk Management systems. Fluency in English, both written and verbal is also essential for this position.

Position Description:

Specific responsibilities related to the position include:

  1. Provide technical support to the development of a framework to integrate all major areas of risk within a unified planning platform at Project and Country Office level in NRC, including tools such as risk registers, risk mitigation plans, decision-making procedures, and program criticality guidance
  2. Plan, design and implement the pilot of the RM tools and procedures mentioned above according to the RM project work plan
  3. Provide technical support to the drafting of documents that will guide country offices in the implementation of the RM framework, procedures and tools.
  4. Provide technical support to the implementation of the After Action Review of the RM organisational development project
