Organizational Setting

The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the IAEA's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure, and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security.
The Division of Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety develops and maintains standards for radiation protection, radioactive waste safety, and safety in the transport of radioactive material that enable the beneficial uses of radiation to be exploited while ensuring appropriate protection of workers, the public, patients and the environment. It also assists Member States in the implementation of these standards and provides related services.The Radiation Safety and Monitoring Section is responsible for the delineation of an international programme to protect workers, patients and the public from all types of exposure to natural or artificial radiation, in line with the most recent scientific knowledge and information. The Section is also responsible for the provision of radiation safety technical services to staff members and experts who may be exposed to ionizing radiation as a result of activities conducted by the IAEA.


Main Purpose

Under the supervision and instructions of Section Head, the Associate Web and Outreach Coordinator , in cooperation with Divisional Communication Advisor and with staff of Office of Public Information and Communication, prepares input materials for web-based applications and web-based products, in order to contribute to visibility of outcomes in individual programme activities (safety guidance documents, on-line training courses, web-based applications and web-based tools, specific websites, etc.). He/she is also responsible for providing support to Member States in understanding and use of these applications and tools.


Role

The Associate Web and Outreach Coordinator is\: 1) an officer, providing in-depth information and recommendations in the field of communication, digital outtreach and web-based communication development; 2) an analyst, recommending new or enhancing exiting procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the IT and visibility products and 3) a developer of reports, recommending new or enhancing existing procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness


Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of the web-based applications focused on occupational safety, protection of patients and dosimetry,regular updates, further improvements and technical administration of Radiological Protection of Patients (RPoP) Website and Occupational Radiation Protection Networks (ORPNET) websites, social media (facebook, twitter) and web newsletters.
  • Draft user manuals and coordinate the outreach activities of newly developed products
    Serve as an initial contact point to follow up on queries from users of web-based applications.
  • Research, draft and edit information for publication on the websites and research, draft and edit texts and design for outreach materials such as brochures, flyers, roll-ups etc.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate success of digital outreach, prepare analytical reports, e.g. statistics about the number of hits, errors, etc., as requested by the responsible technical officers and managers of individual programmes.
  • Make recommendation to Section Head on increasing interactivity with users, including through social media and assist the Section Head with the creation of IT networking and sharing IT platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a photo database.
  • Assist technical officers with defining and designing training programs, especially e-learning activities and webinars.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

  • University degree in Communication, International relations, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in project administration and management.
  • Understanding of object oriented programming and web development/web designer.
  • Understanding of SharePoint and Drupal environments.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $46472 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 24491, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance
