Background Information - Afghanistan

Afghanistan

With more than 20 years of experience in the country, the UNOPS Afghanistan office supports national reconstruction and development efforts by providing projects with goods and services - from stand-alone, one-off solutions to long-term management and capacity development support.  Based in Kabul, UNOPS in Afghanistan has sub-offices in every region of the country. The team implements projects in support of the Afghanistan National Development Strategy, in a wide range of sectors including infrastructure, education, environment and agriculture, and governance and rule of law.

Functional Responsibilities

UNOPS Security Receptionist is accountable or responsible to the FSA  through his chain of command (i.e. Security Operations Associate) for the performance of the official duties. Security receptionist will carry out various security task assigned to by his supervisor:

-       Attend the UNOPS reception post at the main entrance during official working hours;

-       Efficiently deal with UNOPS visitors, contractors and clients;

-       Combine and submit for approval all UNOPS access request forms;

-       Assist visitors get smooth entry to the compound;

-       Receiving and singing in visitors to the site, issuing them with the appropriate ID passes, directing them to the correct destination and contacting the relevant host;

-       Enforce UN/UNOCA security related procedures including access control, registration, sign in/out of all those provided access based on approved request;

-       Meet and direct guests and participants to appropriate meeting locations in UNOPS premises;

-       Assist procurement office with bid and pre-bid meetings. Register bids according to UNOPS Security instructions and deliver them in pouch to procurement office;

-       Compile the list of company representatives and submit to procurement for review and sharing with Security for access to UNOPS bid meeting;

-       Manage and handle documents, pouches and bid documents received at reception, combine and submit to relevant office and units within UNOPS;

-       Collect and update UNOPS and other co-locating agencies visitors/guests information on a daily basis, ensuring all data and information is correct and accurate at all times;

-       Collect and update similar records in UNAMA online registration system for accountability purpose;

-       Assist UNOPS and co-locating agency staff with lost and/or forgot UN ID cards situation at the main entrance;

Provide similar assistance to other co-located agencies at UNOPS office building

Education/Experience/Language requirements

High School graduation is desirable

b.    Work Experience

At least 2-3 year experience in relevant field.
