UNICEF Timor-Leste is looking for an international consultant who are based in Dili to develop advocacy materials and support other communication initiatives.

Purpose of Assignment

UNICEF Timor-Leste requires the support of a Communication Consultant to prepare a set of compelling programme and country briefs, communicating the work that UNICEF Timor-Leste does, and the issues facing the communities we support. Effective communication resources are critical tools for sharing information, building networks for change, advocating on issues and mobilising resources.

Work Assignment

  1. Prepare issues based reader friendly two-page advocacy and communication materials
  2. Prepare a brief reader friendly brochure of UNICEF programme in Timor-Leste
  3. Write stories based on field visit
  4. Proof reading and editing of various communication materials/reports
  5. Assist to connect and engage with young Timorese people for developing better understanding on their needs and connect with UNICEF
  6. Assist in interactive content development for social media.

Deliverables

  1. 8-10 issue based materials produced, at least one issue in each month (May-Dec)
  2. A reader friendly brochure developed (by the end of May)
  3. 8 stories based on the field visit produced for website and donor report (May-Nov)
  4. Edit and proof read reports/materials as required (May-Dec)
  5. Organise three by-monthly consultation with youths on various issues and help to design informed programme activities (May-Oct)
  6.  Support provided to develop interactive content development (May-Dec)

Duration: May-December 2018

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

      • University graduate, but could be relaxed based on experiences.
      • Advanced research, analysis and synthesis skills.
      • Expert knowledge of development terminology, concepts and approaches.
      • Demonstrated experience preparing development publications for a general audience to international standard.
      • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible and engaging language, free of technical or typographic errors, appropriate for a general, non-technical audience.
      • Statistical literacy and the ability to edit statistical content for publication.
      • Exceptional interpersonal communication, advocacy and negotiation skills
      • Computer knowledge, skills and practical experience, including internet navigation, the MS Office Suite, telecommunications and various office applications.
