NORCAP is the Norwegian Refugee Council’s global provider of expertise to the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding sectors. We build partnerships with international organisations and national actors to protect lives, rights and livelihoods. NORCAP provides expert personnel and collaborates with our partners to identify needs and to establish common goals and projects. We help strengthen partner capacity and improve coordination and collaboration.

Since 1991, NORCAP has deployed experts to more than 9000 missions to crisis all around the world.

Due to high demand, NORCAP is currently growing our pool of experienced shelter experts in order to effectively support our partners. If you have the skills and experience described below, we encourage you to apply!

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional humanitarian shelter experience in the field (equivalent to the UN P3 level or higher)
  • University degree within a relevant field of study
  • Hands-on experience with the UN cluster system
  • Significant experience with shelter programming
  • Updated on relevant technical standards and policies
  • Experience with capacity building initiatives
  • English is the working language, while fluency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage

 

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with team members and multiple stakeholders a various levels
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful situations and contexts

NORCAP missions:

  • Normally six (6) months, but may be extended
  • No family duty stations

 

Practical Information:

  • Protection is at the heart of the work NORCAP does; candidates selected for interview can expect for this aspect of their profile to be explored in some detail
  • Selected candidates are expected to be available for mission within the first three (3) months of having been accepted to the roster
  • Shortlisted candidates may need to pass an English test as part of the selection process
  • Interviews will be conducted face to face in Oslo (Norway) shortly after the closing of this advertisement
  • All candidates will get feedback within three weeks after the closing of this advertisement
