The purpose of this internship is to support the UNICEF Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office on the development of the second edition of the “Private Sector Engagement in LAC: Annual Review 2018”, describing and analyzing the relevant activities in the region. This includes constant contact UNICEF experts in Country Offices and support the Child Rights and Business team to compile best practices related to child rights and business, advocacy and core business assets. Additionally, the intern will be asked to support existing regional initiatives such as report revisions, events and existing partnerships with regional corporate partners.

The purpose of this internship is to support the UNICEF Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office on the development of the second edition of the “Private Sector Engagement in LAC: Annual Review 2018”, describing and analyzing the relevant activities in the region. This includes constant contact UNICEF experts in Country Offices and support the Child Rights and Business team to compile best practices related to child rights and business, advocacy and core business assets. Additionally, the intern will be asked to support existing regional initiatives such as report revisions, events and existing partnerships with regional corporate partners.

How can you make a difference?

  1. Revise methodology from the 1st edition of the “Annual Review of the Private Sector Engagement in Latin America and the Caribbean: Annual Review 2017” and propose relevant changes.
  2. Support the coordination of the Annual Review with the CRB team, including compilation of best practices, revisions and structure with a clear timetable to deliver a draft by the end of the internship.
  3. Support the CRB team on the implementation of other select projects on regional launches of reports.
  4. Coordinate and provide technical support to UNICEF focal points on CRB in Country Offices of Latin America and the Caribbean to develop national action plans on supply chain analysis, the food and beverage industry and obesity, migration and ICT, among others.
  5. Monitor the sustainability agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean and identify trends and opportunities to engage the private sector on child rights and business.

Tangible and Measurable output of the Internship

The intern is expected to produce the following products during their stay in UNICEF:

  • The methodology for the “Private Sector Engagement in Latin America and the Caribbean: Annual Review 2018” and a compilation of best practices to be included in the report.
  • A report on the status of the initiatives supported during the internship.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Currently undertaken a post-graduate study in a recognized university.
  • Minimum one-year experience in human rights and business, corporate social responsibility, or similar fields.
  • Proven ability to synthesize documents and analyze evidence.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required and good understanding of written Spanish would be a highly desirable asset.
