We are looking for an enthusiastic professional for the position of HR Intern for a 9 months internship contract. The HR Intern  will support the HR team in providing support in the various human resource functions, including recruitment, records management, and employee welfare amongst others.   
 
Who are we? 
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an International non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people in over 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in East Africa and Yemen  (EAY) region for over a decade, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programs through Country Offices (COs) in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia/Djibouti, Yemen and Uganda/Tanzania with a Regional Office (RO) in Nairobi. The regional office provides support and guidance to the country programmes.  
Job Summary 
The purpose of this internship is to provide administrative support to the Regional Office HR team across the full range of HR processes and systems 
 
Major Responsibilities 
Support in the recruiting and hiring process,  
  • Preparing job advertisements and posting on DRC Website and other relevant media/sites as required; 
  • Assist in long-listing process as may be required;  
  • Schedule and administer written tests for shortlisted candidates, and compile & forward to the hiring manager; 
  • Schedule interviews in consultation with the hiring manager, and any other panelists; 
  • Preparation of interview files/documents and ensuring all arrangements including venue are in place ahead of interviews. 
  • Inform job applicants on status of their application;  
  • Administration of HRManager (recruitment software) including updating candidate status, sending correspondence through the system, and closing out vacancies; 
  • Schedule and arrange orientation for new staff.  
 
HR Administration, 
  • Maintain personnel files ensuring completeness and adherence to highest level of confidentiality;  
  • Maintain the HR Staff list database of employee information;  
  • Maintain leave schedules, updating and computing leave balances on monthly basis 
  • Monthly tracking of timesheets and ensure all timesheets are filled both hard copy and soft copy on one-drive. This involves scanning of past timesheets.  
 
HR Compliance 
  • Support in HR master data compilation and entry into the ERP System; 
  • Assist with preparing for training events/workshops (follow up of participants, materials for facilitators, etc);   
  • Carry out any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time for smooth operation of the HR department. 
 
Reporting Arrangements 
The HR Intern will report to the Regional HR & Administration Manager, but have daily working contact with the Regional HR Officers

Professional Profile  
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management or Higher National Diploma in Human Resources. 
  • Minimum 1 year  experience within HR environment with familiarity of human resource procedures and practicies. 
  • Previous work expereince with international NGO is an advantage. 
  • Computer skills inm MS Office packages and hands-on experience with data entry into online databases.
  • Working knowledge of French is an added advantage
 
Conditions 
Availability:     Immediately 
Duty station:    Nairobi , Regional Office   
Contract:    9 months  in accordance with DRC terms for Internship in  Kenya.
