The UNOPS ICT Unit is part of the Finance Group within UNOPS and is responsible for architecting, designing, delivering, and managing all UNOPS ICT infrastructure and business applications.  The ICT function within UNOPS is currently undergoing a transformation from being a service provider to becoming a strategic business partner.  This transformation requires addressing several foundational aspects of enterprise IT as well as embedding innovation and harnessing of cutting-edge technology to deliver solutions to UNOPS that truly address business needs as well as provide greater effectiveness, efficiency and differentiation to UNOPS products and services.  ICT’s place within the UNOPS Finance Group also enables the transformation by ensuring that IT decisions are made with a strategic focus on costs, benefits, and risks.

Under the supervision of the ICT Development Team Lead, the Atlassian Solutions Administrator will be responsible for the implementation and configuration of the Atlassian suite of applications, including JIRA, Confluence and Service Desk.

Functional Responsibilities

Technical administration of the Atlassian suite

●        Install, configure, manage and maintain the entire Atlassian suite of applications including plug-ins.

●        Create and implement custom workflows, fields, permission schemes etc.

●        Determine ways to optimize and improve Atlassian setups and workflows, and identify where functionality can or cannot meet user requests.

●        Gather and analyse detailed business requirements from the business areas and translate them into solutions

●        Set up reports, dashboards, and filters in JIRA and Service Desk.

●        Maintain a development and testing version of JIRA and Service Desk to test new workflows and modifications to existing workflows.

●        Identify new process improvement opportunities and promote Atlassian best practices to business and technology teams.

●        Develop new functionality within existing suite of applications

●        Ensure optimal performance, scalability, and usability of business applications by adhering to established and evolving architectural standards developed by the Enterprise Architecture and Platforms team

●        Monitor issues reported to System Support, watch for trends in issues, analyze and troubleshoot issues to determine depth and severity and investigate potential workarounds

●        Perform technical testing of existing and new functionality and when upgrades / patches are applied

●        Coordinate User Acceptance Testing

●        Act as Subject Matter Expert for user experience and usage, be familiar with how users use the tools, what  features / functionalities are used, and common use case scenarios performed.

Training, knowledge management and capacity building activities

●        Maintain detailed documentation including technical documentation, user guides, quick reference guides and training material

●        Facilitate training and workshops on the Atlassian suite to develop knowledge and contribute to the successful delivery

●        Promote best practices, share lessons learned and contribute to wider community of practice

●        Assist selected offices on piloting the solution

●        Stay up to date with emerging technologies and where appropriate, advocate for their consideration

Education/Experience/Language requirements

EDUCATION

  • Masters Degree, preferably  in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or other related scientific or technical discipline is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in combination with additional two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of Master’s Degree.
  • Secondary education in combination with additional six years of experience may be accepted in ieu of a Master's Degree.

EXPERIENCE

●        At least 2 years of experience in developing business software applications

●        At least 2 years of experience managing and maintaining server applications and related technologies

●        Relevant experience in administering and customizing an Atlassian solution is required.

●        Ability to create JIRA and Service Desk workflows including project workflows, security schemes, screen schemes, JIRA vocabulary, permission and notification schemes

●        Fluency in Confluence including security, spaces, basic design, integration with JIRA and Service Desk

●        Basic knowledge and understanding of application and network security

●        Must be comfortable working directly with customers and partners, tight deadlines, multitasking and context switching, be able to excel in a fast-paced environment, and show an eagerness to take on ever-increasing responsibilities.

●        Ability to effectively prioritize work, troubleshoots issues and complete tasks on time

●        Comfortable moving between technologies, expanding skills, and passionate to learn and take on new challenges

●        Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment

●        Ability to work with minimal supervision

LANGUAGES

●        Fluency in English required.
