Under the general supervision of the Chief, Performance Monitoring and Accountability in the Field Results Group, you will perform a variety of coordination, monitoring, information gathering and analysis functions to strengthen tools and systems for internal strategic management and institutionalize the use of performance management data in decision making and, increase transparency and accountability to the public.

UNICEF works in a wide variety of programme contexts and the Field Results Group, established in 2014, is responsible for connecting UNICEF Country Programme design to quality programming, SP results, learning and improvements to reach the farthest child first – in constant consultation with the field. The FRG leads Managing for Results, office/country programme management practices and processes that enable collaboration and accountable use of resources to deliver tangible results for children in all contexts. This post supports coherent planning, coordination, monitoring and reporting in pursuit of FRG mandate internally and with HQs and the Field.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general supervision of the Chief, Performance Monitoring and Accountability in the Field Results Group, you will perform a variety of coordination, monitoring, information gathering and analysis functions to strengthen tools and systems for internal strategic management and institutionalize the use of performance management data in decision making and, increase transparency and accountability to the public.

This will involve:

  1. VISION/inSight optimization: Act as technical lead within FRG to improve data completeness, quality and relevance of dashboards, RAM, scorecards, reports and data cubes and provide expert advice on the rationalization, prioritization, design and testing of enhancements to existing products and/or development of new ones.
  2. VISION/inSight user support: regularly interact with staff in country offices, regional offices and headquarters divisions to address tactical and operational data issues, and generate data packs to support results tracking and analysis.
  3. Transparency initiatives: in liaison with colleagues in all HQ Divisions, provide technical leadership in the collation and compilation of financial and results data
  4. Advocacy and knowledge exchange: develop material and support online and face-to-face inSight learning and advocacy activities
  5. Other duties: assist in establishing programme work plans, monitors progress and compliance, and performs other duties, as required

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree in Social, Computer Science (or related ICT field), Statistics or other relevant disciplines. 
  • Extensive knowledge of data management systems, systems design as well as working knowledge of decision support tools is of additional value.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience, preferably at the national and international levels in programme planning, coordination and data analytics.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
