ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Site Maintenance (Flight Monitor) reports to the senior air movement assistant (Ramp) and/or the national aviation officer. The incumbent shall be responsible for performing effective and efficient tasks as a flight monitor, at the terminal building and the ramp.

JOB PURPOSE

To perform routine site maintenance tasks to support safe, comfortable and reliable working environment.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

FLIGHT MONITOR

  • Perform day trips to the deep field locations;
  • Undertake a complete search of carry-on luggage, checked-in luggage and cargo, both manually and by use of a hand held metal detector;
  • Ensure that all the passengers have valid travel documents i.e. Agency badge/ID/Passport; air ticket;
  • Ensure that the actual head count of passengers correspond to the passenger manifest and/or general declaration form, at point of embarkation/disembarkation;
  • Provide assistance and guidance to passengers and flight crew on all flights originating from the field stations.
  • Assist in control of human/animal incursions and any type of crowd at an airfield in deep field locations;
  • Ensure that minimum safety and security is in place during tour of duty at the respective deep field location;
  • Complete and submit passenger and cargo manifests as required;
  • Conduct a manifest correction through the Takeflite/eFMA each time after a flight has been taken;
  • Coordinate with Air Operations Control Centre (AOCC) and Flight Following Centre while in the field, to provide both with all necessary operational information

RAMP

  • Assist in the safeguard/escort of aircraft on the apron when the aircraft is taxiing out/in;
  • Removal and collection of FOD to ensure that the ramp, especially the spot where UNHAS fleet is parked, is free of objects that may cause damage to an aircraft;
  • Remain vigilant to ensure that all passengers baggage, cargo and pouch are processed through the approved security checks and screening prior to embarking and/or entering the UNHAS Compound;
  • Escort Passengers from the terminal building to the aircraft when boarding and vice-versa.

PASSENGER, BAGGAGE AND CARGO HANDLING

  • Prepare tags, boarding cards, etc for the Check-in-Counter.
  • Assist the Check-in-Counter in properly identifying, segregating and labelling of baggage according to routes and destinations;
  • Assist passengers with their baggage;
  • Transfer of luggage from the Check-in-Counter to the Apron;
  • Loading and unloading of luggage and cargo;
  • Escorting agency focal points between UNAMA Parking and UNHAS Compound;
  • Receiving passengers at the UNAMA Gate and guiding them to UNHAS Check-in-Counter;
  • Assist passengers (physically challenged) requiring special attention such as wheelchair cases or any other assistance (MEDEVAC/CASEVAC cases Etc).
  • Coordinate and communicate cargo handling loading/offloading with the Ramp Supervisor.
  • Assist Admin Unit with Loading/Offloading Non-Food Items (NFI);
  • Assist Cargo Unit with Aircraft Catering and its distribution amongst the passengers;
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education.
Experience: Two or more years of relevant working experience

• Ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language. Fluency in Pashto or Dari, preferably both.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Position Title: Site Maintenance Assistant (Flight Monitor)

Contract: Service Contract - SC

Duty Station/travel: Kabul, Afghanistan

Salary: Starting at USD8,775.84 net per annum

Medical Plan: International valid medical plan valid also for staff, spouse and dependents children under 18 years

Annual leave: 24 working days per annum
