The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Corporate Services Directorate Information Technology (IT) - Transversal Services Department - Infrastructure and Operations Division - End User Services

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

Objective of the traineeship

The objective of the traineeship will be to contribute to the continuous improvement of end user hardware and software asset management at the EIB.

You should actively propose improvements on the processes and systems used, as well as on how they are shared within the scope of end users' assets.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of End User Services Unit, you will work as a Junior IT Asset Manager and participate actively in the following initiatives: cost reduction and optimisation of the EIB end user services software portfolio; optimisation of the end user asset management database and the review and improvement of the IT asset management procedure.

Your tasks will be to:

  • Review end user software used at EIB;
  • Promote standardisation and rationalisation of Extended Update Software (EUS) products;
  • Identify business cases covered by third party software that could be addressed by standard versions included in the Window 100/Office 2016;
  • Provide input for license cost optimisation;
  • Identify improvements on Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) in the EUS scope.

Academic qualifications and professional skills                                                                             

  • Final year of studies or Bachelor degree in Science, Engineering, Business Administration, others;
  • Good technical IT capacities;
  • Knowledge of software license management tools, IT Service Management tools particularly configuration management modules;
  • Exposure to Microsoft SCCM and reporting tools like Business Objects will be considered an advantage;
  • Understanding of software license models and options;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. French would be considered an advantage.
