The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Financial Control Directorate - Financial Reporting and Accounting Department - Financial Reporting Division

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will be linked to different accounting projects and different enhancement projects to be implemented within Financial Control. You will assist the FC officer in charge with various projects, providing accounting support and enhancing the control framework as per indications. Inter alia, the projects in which you will be involved are as follows:

  • Collateral Management System finalisation and implementation (CMS);
  • Continuous Linked Settlement migration (CLS);
  • Ongoing enhancement of of the IFRS 9 related processes (IFRS 9);
  • Internal control framework enhancement and internal control update (ICF);
  • Enhancement on the financial closing processes (Closing).

Responsibilities

  • CMS: You will ensure the clerical accuracy of the data and the correct migration of all the transactions. You will verify the plausibility of the accounting schemes (EU GAAP and IFRS) with the new system.
  • CLS: You will carry out checks of the exhaustiveness, completeness and accuracy of data in test environment; you will help with the amendment of the flows as required by the analysis and the structure chart of the project.
  • IFRS 9: You will ensure the compliance with accounting standards. Fine-tune the controls of the reporting covering the implementation of controls aimed at the correctness of the data produced.
  • ICF: You will cooperate with the responsible officer on updates, based on the recommendations of the current Internal Control Framework.
  • Closing: You will cooperate with team on the design, implementation and performance of the controls aimed at guaranteeing the plausibility of the different reporting.  

You will communicate report findings to FC staff/other services in charge of the coordination of the projects.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree (Bachelor/Master) in Finance / Accounting or related discipline;
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of French and/or any other language would be considered an asset;
  • Very good knowledge of the standard office tools; proficiency in Excel and good knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
