The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Legal Directorate – Legal Department, Corporate Department – Regulatory Matters Division

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 4 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will be supporting the Regulatory Matters Division in the implementation of a regulatory alert/tracking system in the field of financial regulation, including prudential, conduct, governance and data & reporting topics.

You will be involved in the tasks of the Division by inter alia contributing to the maintenance of a repository of rules applicable in the financial field.

You will therefore be offered an opportunity to understand the impact of different rules applicable in the financial field to EIB's activities, thus acquiring an insight on regulatory aspects impacting international financial organisations. 

Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the Head of Division and the Supervisor, you will contribute to day-to-day maintenance of an updated repository of rules applicable in the financial field by:

  • Monitoring and identifying new rules applicable in the financial field;
  • Carrying out the necessary tasks to update the repository of rules, as appropriate;
  • Carrying out legal and policy researches on such and other regulatory subjects, as requested by the Head of Division;
  • Preparing and writing draft reports and notes in connection with the above activities.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree (Bachelor / Master) in Law, Political Science, Economics, or other relevant discipline;
  • Basic experience regarding legal and institutional aspects of IFIs and EU Institutional framework would be an advantage;
  • Knowledge of standard IT tools (particularly Word, Excel, search engines, etc.);
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and reasonable command of French. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
