The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Legal Directorate – Legal Department, Operations - Baltic Sea

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship

In the context of its knowledge management, the legal department of the EIB has already undertaken many efforts towards capturing ‘tacit’ knowledge, harmonisation of legal documents and drafting templates, including their automation via legal document automation softwares. 

You would be expected to assist EIB lawyers that lead various knowledge management tasks, as well as be train towards legal document automation; you will be offering a possibility to acquire a unique skill that could give a competitive advantage when looking for further jobs with law firms around the world.

Responsibilities

You will be:

  • Reviewing available in-house precedent documents (in English) and collecting and classifying internal know-how and 'tacit' knowledge;
  • Under the supervision of the EIB lawyers compiling standard form documentation, checklists, performing legal process analysis;
  • Conducting research (whenever necessary), both with respect to internal processes and procedures, as well as certain matters of law.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree (Bachelor/Master) in Law, preferably from Poland, Scandinavian or Baltic State countries;
  • Good knowledge of legal terminology and some experience in legal drafting in English. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct research;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Word, Outlook).
