The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Operations Directorate - Equity, New Products and Special Transactions Department - Intermediated Financing for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Division

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.
Objective of the traineeship
You will be assigned to concrete investment projects in microfinance and will perform a large number of functions in support of the investment team. You will particularly assist the team with the end of the year review of the investment portfolio and will review and propose improvements to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reports.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Head of the Microfinance Unit and investment officers, you will work as a support in the investment cycle of the microfinance portfolio. His/her main tasks will be:
- EIB’s Microfinance Portfolio analysis;
- Preparation of Project Performance Reports and other analytical work, including for the Bank’s equity investments in Microfinance Investment Vehicles (MIVs) and direct investments in microfinance institutions (MFIs);
- Review the current KPIs reports (e.g. number of jobs sustained) and propose improvements to these KPIs reports;
- Other internal and external coordination activities, including for other reporting and data collection purposes.
Academic qualifications and professional skills
- Final year of studies or University degree (Bachelor/Master) in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Economic development;
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Windows, MS Office, Web Browsers, Adobe);
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage;
- Strong financial analysis skills;
- Previous banking, microfinance or investment experience.
