The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Operations Directorate - Iberia Department - Implementation Division

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship

OPS/Iberia-4 would welcome you as a trainee in order to provide assistance to the team members by carrying out ad hoc research related to the IBERIA reporting on bond pricing.

In particular, you would be helpful to assist the division through Balance Sheet analysis of Iberian customers, the identification of potential sector specific features and the presentation of findings to IBERIA management. The overall goal is to provide IBERIA-4 with additional assistance and give in parallel the opportunity to you to get an overview of the division’s work and more generally of EIB's activities and project cycle.

Responsibilities

As a trainee, you will be primarily assigned a research project in relation to bond markets.

Envisaged content:

  • Based on data sources available at EIB (i.e. Amadeus db, Bankscope etc.), carry out a benchmark/comparison study of B/S structure with a particular focus on debt / funding for the top-100 Corporates, by country (ES & PT) and economic sector;
  • Identify possible sector specific features;
  • Summarize findings in a comprehensive presentation to be given to IBERIA management at the end of the Internship.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree (Bachelor/Master), preferably in Economics or Finance ;
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Windows, MS Office, Web Browsers, Adobe);
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other languages (Spanish and/or Portuguese)  would be an advantage;
  • Strong interest in database research and analysis required.
