How can you make a difference?

Objectives and Deliverables

ECW needs to engage a qualified content and digital media consultant. The incumbent of this post will report to ECW's Communication Specialist and have the responsibility to manage ECW day-to-day outreach on digital platforms.  The consultant will ensure sufficient visibility of ECW's brand, partners and results, targeted to multiple audiences, supporting both content production and distribution.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Communications Specialist, the consultant will assist ECW Secretariat in:

  1. Digital content creation, including human stories, photos, campaigns, audio, video, infographics, etc. adapted to ECW wide range of audiences; development and updating of ECW editorial/content calendar
  2. Social media outreach and integrating digital into all aspects of implementation of ECW’s Advocacy and Communications Strategy, including launching and managing new social media channels, distributing content on a daily basis, covering ECW events, ensuring live interactions with digital audiences, etc.   
  3. Managing the ECW website on a daily basis and developing the design of the website; ensuring key deadlines are met for the dissemination of time-sensitive content
  4. Supporting the production of a wide range of communication products and assets, including presentations, fact sheets, newsletters, reports, presentations, etc.
  5. Monitoring analytics and expanding ECW digital presence and audiences, including the production of analytics reports and managing ECW external stakeholders contact lists
  6. Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Communications and/or Journalism;
    *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in Corporate Communications and/or Journalism is required;
  • Experience with graphic design, ability to create designs for digital media and multimedia purposes is required;
  • Familiarity with the international humanitarian and development landscape is required;
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining corporate social media accounts, as well as experience with new media executions, preferably with a development organization; knowledge and understanding of local and global digital landscape and trends;
  • Ability to integrate communication initiatives with social media; and experience developing compelling content to generate response from audiences online;
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in reporting on qualitative and quantitative analytics;
  • Solid understanding of development issues, world affairs and current events.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Previous UN and/or INGO experience in a similar role is highly desirable;
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Remarks

The selected candidate for this consultancy is expected to start in June 2018.

With the exception of US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.  

At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage
