JOB PURPOSE

To implement well-defined standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities. 

  • Monitor the performance of cash-based transfer (CBT) implementation upon the shift from in-kind food distribution, including the timely establishment of new retail outlets and their operations with respect to the established scale-up plan.
  • Ensure the availability and quality of goods offered by the retail operators, meeting WFP standard and in respect of food and hygiene aspects.
  • Ensure smooth retail operations, periodic quality checks, liaising with area shop managers to work on improving efficiencies.
  • Monitoring and improving the existing e-voucher transaction process, smoother data uploads and invoice reconciliation.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Under the overall supervision of Head of Supply Chain and/or his/her designated and in close collaboration with Programme unit – CBT, Finance and IT, the national officer will undertake the following duties

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Establish / customize a quality and safety standard to appropriate the context of WFP retail operations in Cox Bazar, including but not limited to guidelines, sign boards, standard operating procedures.
  • Benchmark existing quality standards for similar goods in neighbouring markets and ensure consistency of goods offered in WFP retail outlets.
  • Establish regular visits (monthly) as well as “surprise” visit schedules.
  • Perform visits to retail for monitoring and provide evidence-based recommendations for improvements.
  • Create a log of complaints and deficiencies in service (quality of good and experience).
  • Support the creation a follow up mechanism allowing progress / improvement to be measured and reported complied with local rules and regulations.
  • Collect and analyse market pricing data of relevant WFP approved commodities and use this data along with historical SCOPE data to negotiate prices with retailers on a regular basis (at least once a month). Support process improvement.
  • Perform other related duties.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Understanding of retail / wholesale operations, flows and SOP’s, understands price negotiations, sales or storage related calculation. A go getter with a can-do attitude who can work with people from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food quality and safety in a food processing, or retail / wholesale industry.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in Food Science and Technology, Public Health or related scientific fields


Language: Fluency in oral and written English and Bangla required.

Monthly Net Salary    : BDT. 86,452 net
