The Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance (InnoVet-AMR) is a four-year, CA$27.9-million partnership between Canada’s International Development Research Centre and the United Kingdom’s Department of Health and Social Care. This program aims to support research that will identify innovative veterinary solutions, including vaccines, to reduce the use of antimicrobials in livestock and aquaculture operations in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC) and build effective partnerships to better coordinate discovery, development and sustainable delivery of veterinary solutions to reduce the use of antimicrobials in livestock and aquaculture operation in LMICs.

 

SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST / OFFICER– LIVESTOCK HEALTH AND AQUACULTURE FOOD SECURITY

Term Position until March 31, 2022 – Ottawa, Canada

 

As the Senior Program Specialist, you will provide technical guidance to support the selection of research projects through competitive calls and other grant-making processes. You will monitor the technical and financial performance of projects and activities, and provide technical advice and information to research teams. You will facilitate program learning and synthesis across projects and support research uptake by developing and implementing strategies and approaches designed to facilitate partnerships between grantees and external leaders including private sector.

 

Overview of Qualifications

  • PhD in veterinary medicine, animal science, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology with significant experience and a record of publication in Aquaculture; or combination of DVM and Masters in relevant field with research management experience
  • 8 years of applied research experience in aquaculture health management and-or in microbiology, vaccinology or a related filed;
  • Superior knowledge of English;
  • Knowledge of aquaculture diseases and aquaculture disease control strategies
  • Knowledge of science relevant to vaccine research, including but not limited to biotechnology, microbiology, immunology, vaccinology and agriculture, food security and international development issues relevant to animal health and vaccine research

 

Note: Candidates with less than 8 years of experience but at least 5 years, may be considered and appointed at the Senior Program Officer level ($91,281 - $109,977)
