Senior Adviser to the Energy Partnership Programme between South Africa and Denmark

 

As Senior Adviser you will at the Ministry of Energy in South Africa (Department of Energy) serve as an expert in energy planning, energy system modelling and energy policy scenario development with particular focus on integration of renewable energy into the power system. Additionally, your responsibility will include coordination and follow-up on progress of activities under the entire Partnership Programme. You will be posted with at Department of Energy, but will as part of the Partnership Programme also engage with the state-owned electricity company ESKOM as well as with other key actors on the energy scene in South Africa. The overall goal of the programme is to assist South Africa’s green transition through increased sharing of renewable energy in the power supply.  

 

You have flair for policy processes, solid experience with strategic energy policy dialogues and tools for energy sector planning such as energy scenarios and energy modelling. You have the ability to work in inter-disciplinary teams and the capacity to facilitate processes, which engages multiple participants and stakeholders. You hold a relevant master’s degree, have extensive knowledge of Danish and international energy and climate policy and have experience with development work, preferable from Africa. You are fluent in English.
