The Green Climate Fund (“the Fund”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.

TheFundwillcontributetotheachievementoftheultimateobjectiveoftheUnitedNationsFramework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, the Fund will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

The Fund is governed by a Board, composed of an equal number of members from developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director. The Fund pursues a country-driven approach in its operations.

The Communications Support Writer will be based at the Fund’s headquarters in Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea. The position is for a 6-month period with the possibility of extension. Role

The Communications Support Writer will be responsible for developing messaging and materials to communicate GCF’s activities and events, as well as the impact of GCF’s portfolio of projects and programmes. The writer will collaborate closely with the operational Divisions and Units of GCF in order to support their communications needs, as well as to develop thematic materials that outline how GCF’s portfolio will have a transformative effect in support of the transition to low emission, climate resilient development.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Communications, s/he will be responsible for: • Drafting and editing communications materials (articles, news releases, features) to promote knowledge of GCF’s activities, including its policies, events, and external relations; • Supporting GCF’s external relations function through speech-writing, briefings, issues briefs and other materials as required;

• Liaising with other Divisions and Units to develop a thematic understanding of GCF’s portfolio of projects and programmes that connects to GCF’s mandate, and allows consistent and clear communication of GCF’s added value;

• Creating writtenmaterials that communicatehowprojects will contributeto transformation within different thematic areas, using non-technical language;

• Supporting the Communications team in researching, compiling and writing content for GCF publications and other materials as needed;

• Performing other related duties, as required.Required experience and qualifications • Advanced university degree in communications, marketing, international relations, journalism, social sciences, legal studies or related fields;

• At least 4 years of relevant work experience, including professional background in public relations; • Demonstrated ability to produce a broad range of public information materials; • A demonstrated understanding of climate change, climate finance, and / or environmental issues; • Familiarity with the intergovernmental process;

• English language is essential for this position (English mother tongue equivalent); knowledge of another UN language is an advantage;

• Excellent communication skills and the abilitytoprepare and communicatecomplex informationin the written format;

• Sound written, editorial, and analytical abilities coupled with excellent organisational and planning skills;
