Background
Job Title: Procurement Intern
Project Title/Department: Procurement Unit of UNDP CO
Duration of the assignment: 3 months (June – August 2018)
Duty station: Tashkent
Work status (full time / part time): part time
Reports to: Head of procurement unit
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Head of Procurement unit, the Intern provides support to unit performing routine duties ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The Intern promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.
By the end of internship, the incumbent is expected to gain basic knowledge of the (i) UNDP procurement processes, (ii) business correspondence, (iii) communications with clients, (iv) event management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the document flow of procurement related cases/requests from projects/agencies;
- Sort, classify and file documentation according to guidelines such as content, purpose, user criteria, or chronological, alphabetical, or numerical order;
- Assist with archiving: prepare procurement materials for archiving, register the archived files, update the register of archived file;
- Support procurement processes for CO and projects;
- Contribute to implementation of sourcing strategy by:
- Conduct market research at national and international levels for different category of goods, services and works based on consolidated procurement plan;
- Prepare market analysis report based on results of market research;
- Prepare vendors’ database based on market research that should contain information on vendor’s area of business, active contact details, contact person, legal address;
- Assist in introducing market research reports and vendors’ information on “Market Research” and “Vendors’ Database” sections of new on-line Vendors’ database tool;
- Assist designated evaluation panels in conducting due diligence/post qualification exercise and preparing due diligence report;
- Ensure regular update of new online vendors’ database by uploading recent due diligence reports;
- Other duties and tasks that may occur during Incumbent’s employment under this capacity

Required Skills and Experience
Education field: Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Economics, Business Administration and Public Administration or any related field.
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent); or
- Have graduated from university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent) and if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; or
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree: Master’s or equivalent, or higher) is desirable.
Language requirements:
- Fluency in English, Russian and Uzbek.
