SOUTH ASIA REGIONAL RESEARCHER - AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

Amnesty International's South Asia Regional Office is looking for experienced Researcher's for the region to investigate, uncover and document human rights abuses. We are pleased to be recruiting for five posts to join the new Colombo Office in Sri Lanka. The regional areas these positions will cover will include: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be at the forefront of investigating and exposing human rights abuses in the South Asia region. You will be responsible for going out into the field, speaking to victims of human rights abuses, recording their stories, analyzing them through the lens of international human rights and humanitarian law, and making your findings public through clear, effective language. You will be someone who is rigorous and adopts innovative research methodologies.

You will represent Amnesty International to government officials, partner organizations, and the media. You will be a team player who can work closely with other staff in the regional office and across Amnesty International's global movement.

ABOUT YOU

With experience of working on human rights issues, first-hand in-depth knowledge of South Asia, you have sound political judgement and a keen analytical eye. You are a creative researcher with experience of applying new methodologies and technologies in the field of human rights research. Your documentation skills reflect a meticulous attention to detail and an ability to situate human rights abuses within a wider socio-political context. You are an excellent writer with strong public speaking skills and a familiarity with social media. You are fluent in at least one regional language. You are a self-starter who is also able to work across different teams with ease, comfortable sharing your knowledge and learning from others. Experience in investigate journalism or other investigative approaches desirable.
