CCCM Assistant Officer

Background

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in Yemen since 2008. Using right-based approaches, DRC has mainly focused on refugees, migrants and internally displaced People by conflict and natural disasters. Programs include WASH, protection, Food security/livelihoods and mine risks education, amongst others. DRC has hub offices in Sana’a, Aden, Hodeida and several sub-offices throughout Yemen.  In response to the humanitarian needs and the resulting increase of conflict affected population in Yemen, DRC is seeking the services of a qualified CCCM Assistant Officer to support our CCCM activities in IDP settlement sites in in Abs

Job Title:  CCCM Assistant Officer

Location: Abs

Contract:  Standard

Duration: 9 months

 

Purpose

The CCCM Assistant Officer will support the implementation of CCCM activities in Abs– focused primarily on data collection, support to informal settlements and referrals/service requests, in addition to regular liaising with stakeholders. The CCCM Assistant will assist the CCCM officer in camp activities such as camp committee creation, surveys and assessments and leading outreach campaigns

 

Reporting lines

a) Reports to: CCCM Officer

b) Subordinate: N/A

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Ensure regular contact (physical or through phone calls) and collect area specific information/updates from community focal points
  2. Responsible for timely and accurate input of data into CCCM databases and tools
  3. Assist in identifying needs, service gaps and duplications in all targeted areas
  4. Document, track and provide timely referrals and service requests to specialist service providers.
  5. Help facilitate awareness campaigns or information dissemination to IDP/Return populations using diverse methodologies, ensuring understanding by the IDP community
  6. Ensure timely and adequate registration of IDPs in camp, including identification of persons with specific needs in coordination with protection partners
  7. Attend meetings with various stakeholders, including national authorities and IDPs as necessary or requested.
  8. Provide accurate and timely information that supports the drafting of weekly situation reports and other updates
  9. Support the CCCM Officer and CCCM Coordinator in any other duties, as needed

Represent DRC

  1. Represent DRC towards communities, communicating about DRC mandate and humanitarian principles

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

  1. University degree in civil engineering, humanities, social studies, architecture, urban planning or engineering
  2. Minimum one years of experience in international and/or local NGO; ideally involved in the direct implementation of field level humanitarian assistance to IDPs
  3. Strong participatory leadership, management and interpersonal skills
  4. Knowledge in participatory, rights-based community development and willingness to learn.
  5. Negotiation skills and an understanding of “DO NO HARM” principles
  6. Understanding of gender, protection and human rights
  7. Proven experience in staff supervision and remote management
  8. Basic computer skills (proven computer literacy, in particular Excel knowledge is a must)
  9. Strong team spirit, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment
  10. Additional qualities: ability to multi-task, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, adaptability to transitions

Languages

Spoken and written Arabic and English is essential.
