Protection Coordinator –  Central African Republic

Nous recherchons un Protection Coordinator hautement qualifié pour œuvrer dans l’une des plus grandes ONG internationales en République Centrafricaine (RCA).

The Protection Coordinator will be in charge of the general supervision of all protection activities and ensure protection mainstreaming in all other activities. The Protection Coordinator will report directly to the Head of Programs.

About the job

 Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

  • Ensure that the protection and reporting activities (both narrative and financial reports) within the projects are implemented in a timely, professional and sustainable manner;
  • Supervise analytical reports of protection issues and concerns in order to draft documents to be published among the humanitarian community in CAR;
  • Ensure management of protection international staff deployed in the country and coordination with other operational departments (especially social cohesion, emergency response);
  • Provide technical advice on protection to all other operational departments, ensuring that protection issues and aspects are always included in other operational departments’ activities (protection mainstreaming) ;
  • Draft new protection projects proposals (narrative and budget) and support the Head of Programs in the preparation of proposals that include protection activities;
  • Actively participate in Protection Cluster activities and meetings in Bangui, as well as ensure a good  coordination of the DRC representatives in Regional Protection Clusters;              
  • Work closely with international staff involved in the management of the other operational departments, especially the Head of Programs;
  • Ensure good monitoring & evaluation of implemented activities on the field ;
  • Conduct a firm advocacy in search for response on protection concerns, either at DRC level or in close cooperation with other humanitarian actors;                  
  • Work closely with local authorities to foster good will and support for protection activities; 
  • Organize and conduct regular field visits to ensure technical support to field staff and local partners.

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

  • At least 5 years experience in the implementation of field-based protection projects in conflict and/or post conflict settings with an international NGO;
  • Proved experience in displacement and durables solutions contexts;
  • Good understanding of key issue related to Humanitarian International Law, Human Rights, SGBV, Psychosocial Support, Child protection, Individual and Community Protection Assistance, House Land and Property (HLP), etc; 
  • Experience in supervision, capacity building and support of international staff;
  • High proficiency in written and spoken French;
  • Very good writing and reporting skills;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, negotiation and communications skills;
  • Ability to cope with heavy workloads and to work under pressure;
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and creative in problem-solving;
  • Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions, in settings with few amenities;
  • A high level of social-cultural sensitivity when dealing with colleagues, partners and beneficiaries.
  • User lever computer literacy (Office Package, Outlook, etc.);
