DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for an experienced cash and grants advisor for the DCA country office in South Sudan with duty station in Juba and occasional travels to the field. The position is based in the Humanitarian Assistance and Resilience Programme (HARP), an innovative multi-sectoral relief and resilience programme implemented through national partners and with special focus on market-based interventions. The position provides opportunities to develop new ways of providing immediate relief assistance, support community resilience, and build local capacity.

Key responsibilities

The Grants Advisor responsibilities (50%) consist of various tasks in relation to donors and funding opportunities, such as hands-on support and coordination of proposal development with local partners and DCA staff, mapping and monitoring of funding opportunities, meeting up and networking with other agencies and donors in relation to funding opportunities, assisting with contracting, and communicating with the Global Funding Unit in Denmark.

The Grants Advisor will also support follow-up and reporting on projects in close cooperation with other programme staff and partner organisations.

The Cash Advisor responsibilities (50%) consists of overseeing the overall cash programming approaches and methodologies within HARP including capacity building of DCA staff and partners to have a good understanding of all the stages of cash programming and support their implementation of cash-based activities. The cash advisor will support adoption of new and innovative approaches in market-based programming and support the programme team in harmonising cash programming approaches across DCA partners.

The Cash Advisor will be DCA’s main focal point as Co-lead of the Cash Working Group working closely together with WFP.

The Advisor will be an active part of the programme team and refer to the HARP Programme Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant master’s degree and at least 3 years relevant work experience preferable from working in complex humanitarian situations in Africa.

  • Experience with cash transfer programming.

  • Knowledge of working with proposal development, grant management and donor relations.

  • Proven facilitator with excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

  • Committed to working with and strengthening or complementing the capacity of partner organisations and colleagues.

  • Flexible and able to adapt to a multi-cultural environment.

  • Outgoing, results-oriented and proactive.

  • Experience with digital data collection will be an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of South Sudan is also an added advantage.
