It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies.
Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.
MdM currently works in more than 45 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment.

Since the 30th March of 2018 the so-called March of Return in the Gaza Strip has been followed my massive influx of injuries, up to 6000, overwhelming the already stretched services in the health facilities, with high impact injuries, potential fatal consequences and the risk of medium and long term complications such as disabilities

MDM Emergency Preparedness intervention in Gaza consist in strengthening the local capacities (community level, and Ministry of Health structures, PHC and Hospital level ) to respond to medical emergencies. This intervention is done in Gaza Strip.


Under the direct management of the field coordinator in Gaza, you will manage directly a team of three: the medical emergency manager, the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) Officer, and the advocacy officer.

More specifically, your main responsibilities are to:

- Emergency Context Follow-up

Follow contextual development in Gaza and prepare an update for the monthly reporting.

Propose new ideas and modalities to improve the emergency project activities implementation, considering contextual developments.

Ensure timely and accurate security / incident reports are sent to the field coordinator / coordination team

- Program

Ensure the implementation of the program and its follow-up in its different aspects: logistical, administrative and medical.

Ensure coordination with Admin and Log Managers on these matters

Ensure coordination and follow up of partners in the emergency project

Maintain a regular follow-up of funds transfers, procurement, financial reporting

Contribute to proposal and project report writings

Maintain the map of project activities and updating it accordingly.

Participate to projects and strategy planning meetings and provide inputs

With the support of the M&E Officer develop M&E tools to monitor the indicators, analyze and interpret the data, and propose adjustments if need be.

- Reporting

Compile monthly emergency project activities report and submit to Deputy MedCo and Field Coordinator.

Follow up and compile reports from partners to be included in the internal and donors reports

Prepare narrative part related to project activities for donor reporting.

- HR and Team Management

Participate to the recruitment and briefing of new emergency program staff

Supervise HR daily management for emergency program staff, ensure adequate information flow within the different teams in terms of communication channels and content of messages

Identify training needs, set up training/mentoring/coaching programs and follow up on implementation

Status : Employee Contract : Fixed-term contract
Duration : 6 months

To be filled as soon as possible
Position based in Gaza Strip, with occasional visits to Jerusalem

2 820 euros gross monthly salary on 13 months
Expatriation bonus (10% gross salary per month)
Transportation cost (home-work), vaccines and visas covered
22.5 RTT per year
5 weeks of paid leaves per year
Health insurance (60% covered by MdM)
Insurance (repatriation…)

Experience with an international NGO working in emergency contexts, managing projects, preferably within the health sector
Previous experience of project planning and budget holding; proposal and report writing.
Flexibility, reactivity, anticipation, adaptability
Good organizational skills in day to day and crisis situations
Excellent computer and reporting skills
Good communication skills
Capacity to work and to live in tense conditions (proximity to an armed conflict, unstable situation)
Experience/knowledge of the region
Familiar with supply chain and procurement process
Ability to manage priorities effectively
Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives
Good writing and communication skills
Capacity to work in tense conditions

English mandatory (oral and written) and Arabic a plus
