Administrative and Financial support assistant is required to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the development, implementation and monitoring of programs/projects facilitates the delivery of concrete and sustainable results for the different areas, which in turn enhances the offices and UNICEF’s capacity in helping the most vulnerable women and children.

At UNICEF COLOMBIA we work to generate positive changes in the lives of children and adolescents. Our current work plan runs from 2015 to the end of 2019 and aims to ensure that children and adolescents enjoy their rights through equitable access to social services, improve their learning and live protected from all types of violence.

We work throughout Colombia, with special focus on the departments where children have fewer opportunities: Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia, Córdoba, Amazonas, Putumayo, La Guajira and Caquetá.

How can you make a difference?

Under the close supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the programme administrative assistant supports the respective section through providing a range of procedural, administrative and operational support to the country programme, ensuring timely and effective delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations. 

Part of the duties are: 

  • Carries out transactions in VISION (SAP) ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs), and makes amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.
  • Arranges meetings, workshops and training courses pertaining to programme development, and provides support in making the necessary logistical arrangements.
  • Following up both internally with the Supply section and externally with counterparts to ensure supplies for programme implementation are delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provides support on budget revision/preparation, implementation status, determination position of funding utilization, operational, and financial closure.
  • Monitors budgets and financial expenditures of section, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision/follow up.
  • Prepares and maintains records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization. University degree in administrative, accounting or financial areas would be a plus.

  • Advance knowledge in MS Excel is required and experience in the use of SAP would be a plus.

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively administrative and budget support experience is required.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Good level in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
