NRC in Jordan 

Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

 

Security Officer

Role Specific Information

The Security Officer will provide a range of security support within the northern region of Jordan; Irbid, Mafraq, Jerash and Ajloun Governorates..

 

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Implement NRC’s safety and security policies at office level
  • Conduct regular security and risk assessments to identify safety and security needs
  • Train staff in safety and security and provide regular briefings and updates
  • Immediately report all breaches of safety and security procedures and all threats to NRC staff, beneficiaries, activities or assets
  • Facilitate staff evacuation in emergency situations
  • Supervise, train and develop eventual security staff at office level
  • Liaise with UN agencies, NGOs and other external actors to gain security information
  • Ensure vehicle and staff movements are monitored according to procedures and that necessary safety and security equipment are available and in good condition
  • Prepare security updates and reports as required
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

 

Specific responsibilities

  • Ensure the day-to-day safety of NRC staff assets and information.
  • Assist the Irbid Security Coordinator in supervision of guards, preparation of work plans/location schedules, and inspection of relevant documentation (i.e. visitor books, inventory records).

Our ideal candidate:

Our ideal candidate has a minimum of two years of experience working in security. We are looking for someone that has excellent understanding in regards the internal & external Jordanian context. Experience in training security & non-security personnel in regards to security matters is a plus.  

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels, and may be required to work extended and /or non-core business hours, as and when required by the needs of the organization. This may include evening, weekends and holidays.

Additional Information:

Contract period: Through to 31st December 2018

Salary/benefits: 1024JOD (subject to social security and Income tax)

Duty station: Mafraq

NRC may be required to verify the identity of its partners and to check that its partners have not been involved in illegal activities.
