Operating since 2004 in Lebanon, DRC has addressed the needs and rights of vulnerable populations, working initially with Palestinian refugees (since 2004), Iraqi refugees (2007-2010), Lebanese IDPs (during the 2006 conflict), migrant domestic workers (since 2009) and, since 2011, responding to the Syrian refugee crisis.  
DRC Lebanon is currently delivering programming in protection, housing, infrastructure, basic assistance, livelihoods, and community development interventions. This myriad programming seeks to address the immediate needs of displaced populations and concurrently support vulnerable host populations. DRC has five offices spread throughout Lebanon in, Beirut, the Bekaa, Saida, Tripoli and Qobayat.

 

About the job

The purposes of this project is to Improve short-term food security by engaging the targeted people in FFA and complementary training through FFT approach, while improving community resilience through the creation of productive assets and agricultural/livelihoods training.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Teach the participants proper kitchen sanitation and cleanliness, food handling and storage, different recipes, different kitchen equipment and tools, controlling waste and spoilage, proper measurement of products, and practical application of the recipes. 

• Take attendance and follow-up with participants on their regular commitment. 
• Develop a midterm and a final exam to evaluate the learning effectiveness.  
• Provide weekly reports to measure progress, identify barriers to learning and recommend action to overcome barriers. 
• Provide vocational training on Food Processing and Preservation– Lebanese and International cuisine and pastry –to the identified trainees in these three areas in Akkar; Hissa, Ghzayleh, and Hrar; for 2 months. 
• The following topics should be included in the training subjects: 
­ Maintain Hygiene (Hygiene and Sanitation); Adopt Safety Precautions (Awareness of Health & Safety Measures); Perform Pre Work (Cleaning the Kitchen and Preparing For Work); Food safety and sanitation management; Prepare, cook and finish meat, poultry and fish dishes; Prepare, cook and finish eggs and egg dishes; Cleaning and sanitizing operations; Prepare and cook vegetables; Reading and applying recipes; Measurements; Prepare and finish simple salad and fruit dishes; Prepare hot and cold dishes and sandwiches; Waste Control; Prepare, cook and finish pasta and rice dishes; Prepare and cook soups, stocks and sauces; Prepare Cake and Cookies (Preparing Cakes and Cookies); Prepare Pastry (Preparing Sauces; Glazes and Creams for Pastry and Cakes); Prepare Desert Items (Preparing Dessert Items); Maintain Store for Finished Products; Pest Control; Communication Skills; Closing Down the Bakery Section; Giving Basic First Aid and Responding to Emergencies; Develop Professionalism.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a previous experience as a Food Processing Trainer. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

• Experience in working with the local environment 

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chef or sous chef in North Lebanon.   
• Previous experience working with NGO’s 
• Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills. 
• Team work skills. 
• Arabic: very good 
• English: Basic
