Place In The Organisation:

The incumbent of this post reports to the Branch Manager.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:

Collects data and other information related to the activities of the organizational unit examining its correctness as required. Prepares, verifies, maintains and updates records in prescribed formats for use by the respective staff; creates, using standard computer applications, back up of records. •Maintains the general files and various registers as required such as inventory listings, personnel records of the respective staff, job files and correspondences exchanged with other departments/divisions/sections/units. Performs word processing and other computer duties as required. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Academic & Professional qualifications

•      Completion of full secondary education.

•      Successful completion of a 2 years diploma in business and office practice.

Experience

Three years experience in clerical/secretarial work or any related discipline.

Language

Good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Competencies:

•      Computer literacy and familiarity with spreadsheets, word processing and data base programme.

•      Sound organization skills.

UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in West Bank, the Gaza Strip, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA's services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance. Equivalency

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the concerned Director may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
