Background

UNDP Tajikistan’s Communication department aims to increase awareness about its programmes’ and projects’ activity among different stakeholders. The team guides individual projects’ communication plans/efforts to ensure that at the office level clear, consistent and tailored messages are developed and shared through adequate channels with relevant target audiences influencing the development agenda, promoting public and media outreach and mobilizing political and financial support for UNDP.  Within this mission, the UNDP is seeking to improve its digital presence through social media and its own website.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Communication Analyst the intern will manage all updates on the UNDP website for Tajikistan. This means timely posting of information pieces, including press releases, media advisories, blog posts, articles, page content, to the website. The intern will also share some of the content from the website to social media accounts of the organization. Depending on the competences and interests of the intern, assignments will include:  

  • Updating/creating pages on the UNDP website for Tajikistan as new content arrives;
  • Selecting photos to illustrate pages on the website;
  • Monitoring the website for errors, empty pages, broken links, and other issues, defined by the Communication Analyst, that need to be addressed.
  • Posting newly published content from the website to social media;
  • Assisting in preparing other communication materials (gathering information for success stories, press releases and etc.);
  • Assisting in the organization of trainings or other collaborative events;
  • Media monitoring;
  • Assisting the communication team in its activities in general.

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Tech-savvy;

  • Computer proficiency in content management systems (website management) is preferred;

  • Strong sense of web-design and ability to create user-friendly structures;

  • Excellent story-telling skills;

  • Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN/UNDP;

  • Demonstrates integrity and fairness, by modelling the UN/UNDP’s values and ethical standards;

  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability

Required Skills and Experience

 Education: be enrolled in a graduate programme (university degree or equivalent, or higher);
 

Field of study: Mass media, communication, marketing, informational technology;
 

Language skills: Written and spoken proficiency in Russian, English and preferably in Tajik;
 

Demonstrated interest in the field of communication
