The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Communication Department (COM) – Media Division, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a:

Audio-visual Communication Operational Assistant (Internal Communications)

This is a full time temporary position at grade 2/3

The term of this contract will be 1 year

Panel interviews are anticipated for mid - September 2018.

Purpose

The Communication Department ensures the Bank’s activities are known and valued by its partners and the general public. It interacts with external and internal audiences and ensures the EIB Group engages with them in an open and accountable way.

The EIB is making increasing use of audio-visual material in its corporate and internal communication, enhancing storytelling around the EIB’s achievements, projects, role and mission. The Audio-visual Communication Assistant will provide support for the production of film, video and photographic material for use in the Bank’s internal communications.

S/he will contribute to generating ideas for interviews and videos and draft scripts, and be the day-to-day contract with external providers. She will assist in the generation and production of videos in house when appropriate, using personal video production technology.

You will directly report to the Head of the Video and Social Media Unit[1] and cooperate with the Head of the Media Division, the Head of the Publishing Division, the Head of the Editorial Unit, as well as other team members in the Communications Department and colleagues across the EIB.

Accountabilities

  • Provide support for the production/commissioning of films, videos and photos for internal communications
  • Under the guidance of the Head of the Editorial Unit and in cooperation with other EIB Group departments, assist in ensuring  quality, timeliness and relevance of content published on the Intranet and through other internal channels.
  • Provide support for the drafting, editing and coordination of video and audio-visual production. 
  • Follow up the outsourcing of audio-visual products as needed.
  • Coordinate EIB audio-visual presence at events and conferences as needed.
  • Contribute to other Internal Communications activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Secondary level education, complemented with a 2-year certification in a relevant field (e.g. communication, film making) or secondary level education with equally qualified experience in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in audio-visual communication.
  • Familiarity with professional video editing software such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere or similar
  • Experience with different video format conversions for download and online streaming
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in assisting with producing, scripting, directing, or editing video material and photographs
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and events
  • Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French, with a good knowledge of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
