Correspondent IOR Asia (f/m)

Location: South East Asia (Either one of the country Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines)

Mission of the Position

  • To work mainly in the Asia region and also support global efforts.
  • To produce and coordinate external communications content from Member Associations.
  • To ensure that fundraising and communications colleagues based in Europe and North America receive relevant and timeous material about the work of SOS Children’s Villages.
Tasks and Responsibilities

 Respond to requests for communication material – including text, photos, sound clips and video- from fundraising and communications colleagues based in Europe and North America.

 Provide regular updates on important news, emergencies and events within the region - to help in fundraising activities.

 Write excellent and persuasive communication material, in order to demonstrate the impact of work of the organisation.

 Produce, edit and package video content from the field.

 Provide and facilitate capacity building and training on storytelling and content production, consent and privacy matters relating to child rights. 

Contribute to the shaping of the SOS Children’s Villages editorial plan and lead in the development of theme-related packages in line with the organisation’s strategic initiatives.

Requirements 

Should have Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism/ Communications/ Political Sciences or any related field

Minimum 9-10 years of experience in journalism or communications, preferably in non-profit or international development sector

Experience in news media or in dealing with journalists in current or past assignments

Experience of working in developing countries, preferably in media environment

Previous working experience in producing communications content (writing and multimedia)

Good understanding of the global media 

Good knowledge and skills of Digital campaign

Proven audio-visual skills

Self-driven with the ability to take initiative

Good interpersonal skills

Flexible and adaptable approach for working in the humanitarian field

Ability to work in stressful environments, such as an emergency

Strong team player

Readiness to travel as and when needed

Fluent in English communication skills (written and oral). Knowledge of any other language will be an added advantage.

Proficient in Computers; knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop will be an added advantage.
