Peace and Security Centre

The UNOPS Peace and Security Centre (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners. The Centre is responsible to administer, provide support and oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations.
It is headed by the Centre Director who has the overall authority and accountability for the performance of the Peace and Security Centre on behalf of its clients.

Functional Responsibilities

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Assistant will carry out the following duties:

  • Assist in the development and management of PSC rosters, such as circulating vacancy notices to roster members and compiling their responses for portfolio managers
  • Assist in the administration of recruitment processes (competitive recruitment and roster replenishments), such as drafting vacancy notices in the Global Personnel Recruitment System (GPRS), compiling data for shortlists, administering written tests, scheduling interviews, and assembling document packages for corporate review bodies
  • Identify and arrange for recruitment assistants to sit as secretaries on interview panels when requested
  • Take interview minutes if recruitment assistants are not available
  • Carry out reference checks on recommended candidates
  • Provide administrative surge support to senior members of the HR team, such as in processing reclassification cases or desk-review recruitment
  • Assist in collecting data for large-scale administrative projects
  • Assist in managing the database of endorsed candidates
  • Assist in managing database of international recruitment, ensuring that cases are entered, statuses are correct, and key documents are uploaded
  • Assist in ensuring that records in the roster management system are current and correct, including job order statuses and roster members' profiles
  • Use various data management systems to generate a range of reports and statistics regarding personnel and recruitment volume
  • Assist in various periodic data cleaning exercises
  • Assist in keeping training records PSC personnel up-to-date
  • Assist in monitoring and updating the HR Team's filing system
  • Assist in performing an array of outreach activities for international positions, such as posting on job boards and social media platforms, sending emails to professional networks, and 'cold calling' passive candidates via email
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the HR Manager

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education and Relevant Years of Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, OR
  • First level university (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, human resources, or other relevant field with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience
Work Experience:
  • Relevant experience is defined as experience performing operational transactions in support of general administration
  • Computer literacy is required
  • Experience in report writing is desired
  • Experience working in an office environment is desired
Language:
  • Fluency in English  (speaking, writing and reading) is required
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is desired
