Scope of work:

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been active in Afghanistan for more than 30 years. With more than 5 300 employees in four different development programs the SCA is an important actor in Afghanistan. The organization has now decided to increase its capacity to communicate by establish a Senior Communications Officer in each of its five Regional Management Offices.

As a Regional Communications Senior Officer she will operate on both regional, national level with a wide range of duties related to communications.

This requires a person with experience from communications and with creative ability.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Graduate from recognized college Journalism Faculty.
Have two years’ experience from the communications sector.
Understand how to produce high-quality communication; both when it comes to design and quality of text and pictures
Have good interpersonal skills and ability to plan work.
Creative ability and capacity to take initiatives –your most important tools
Be able to write journalistic texts of high quality.
Be able to take pictures of good quality, and preferably also experience from filming.
Having conducted media relation or worked in media.
Preferably experience in print production, producing materials with high quality. .
Preferably experience in web publishing and managing social media.
Fluency in Pashto and Dari and high level of English.
Be able to travel
Be able to show a portfolio of text and pictures of high quality
Must share basic values of SCA

Main Responsibilities:

As a Regional Communications Officer she will operate on three levels:
In your region she will support all kinds of communications activities as media relations, production of printed materials, updating the regional section of the common SCA webpage, support advocacy activities, handling internal communication etc. Always keeping an eye on that the guidelines for the visual identity is followed. Sometimes she makes programs for visitors and accompany them during the visits. On some occasions she will also support the partner organizations of SCA in their activities.
At a national level she will be the focal point for The Communications Unit at the Kabul Management Office. She will be in close contact with the staff at The Communications unit. She will be writing articles and taking pictures for the Staff Magazine “Hemmat” or the web site. She will give suggestions on appropriate news for the national media and possible updates for the SCA page on Facebook.
At an international level she gives support to the Communications Unit at the office in Stockholm, Sweden. The relations with Sweden are managed by the Communications Unit in Kabul but she will be “the eyes and ears” in she r region. In Sweden there is a constant need of texts and pictures from our programs. For fundraising activities there is a need for stories from the projects. She will provide ideas that can be useful for advocacy or communication in general.
