Health Project Manager (national position)

Malteser International (MI) has been working in Uganda since 1996, with projects in several regions of the country. In Northern Uganda and more specifically in the West Nile region, Malteser International is currently active in the WASH sector for improving the lives of both the host population as well as the refugee population. In the capital Kampala Malteser International’s focus on the health sector with the development of an operative ambulance system and the support of an initiative for mothers of disabled children.



 
For its work in Kampala, Uganda, Malteser International is looking for an experienced Health Project Manager (national position).

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the working relationship between the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Task Force and its key stakeholders are positive and constructive
• Planning and organizing project activities of Malteser International to the objectives, indicators, work plans and approved budgets (e.g. workshops with key stakeholders)
• Following up, updating, and readjusting project work and time plans together with the technical, administration and logistics staff
• Assist the EMS Task Force Members/Ministry of Health (MoH) in developing and achieving their project plans
• Follow up on any actions, quickly address any difficulties, and escalate issues to the Malteser International Senior Management Team (SMT) where necessary
• Responsible for regular and timely project progress documentation/reports
• Responsible for visibility activities and PR in line with MI and donor standards

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree Public Health, Medical Officer with Project planning/Management background
• A Master’s Degree highly desirable in any of the above disciplines
• 3-5 years of experience supporting Project Managers in the delivery of development projects
• Knowledge of Health Care Systems, Governmental structures
• Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
• Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills

Conditions:

• Starting date: October 2018
• Intended duty stations: Kampala, Uganda
• Duration of contract: 12 months
• Salary according to qualification and experience
