How can you make a difference?

  • Provide technical expertise to Country Offices and Regional Office on emergency preparedness and response.
  • Provide technical expertise to Country Offices on Risk Informed Programming.
  • Provide technical expertise to Country Offices on Accountability to Affected Populations.
  • Help support the emergency response and preparedness work of the MENARO Humanitarian Section as needed
  • All COs in MENA have quality preparedness plans meeting UNICEF minimum preparedness standards contributing to timely and quality emergency response
  • All UNICEF Country Programmes in MENA are risk informed and the “risk lens” is strengthened in COs standard approaches to situation analysis and strategic planning
  • All UNICEF humanitarian programmes in MENA comprehensively integrate accountability to affected populations

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in political science, anthropology, sociology, social sciences, international relations, engineering or related field.  First level university degree with relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible work experience in humanitarian action. Complementary experience in international development is desirable. Specialized training and experience in developing and implementing emergency preparedness and response plans in complex environments required. Experience working at country, regional and/or HQ level required. Experience working in emergency preparedness with UNICEF desirable. Experience of project implementation with strong accountability component and community engagement in complex environment required. Experience in resilience and disaster risk reduction desirable. Knowledge of UNICEF programme cycle and related procedure desirable. Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required, fluency in Arabic and/or French would be an asset.
