STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Food Technology, Medicine, other relevant field, or experience in nutrition program management.
Language:   Fluency (level C) in French language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of English.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Contribute to the designing of nutrition projects and activities, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider nutrition policies and guidance.
2. Manage nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive projects and activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programs/projects that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
3. Develop and co-ordinate with the monitoring and evaluation unit, data gathering and monitoring/assessment systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
4. Track and analyze data to provide input into reporting activities and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on nutrition activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
5. Liaise with implementing partners (internal and external) to monitor ongoing projects, ensuring effective collaboration, timeliness and efficiency, and highlight potential risks to project delivery.
6. Support the identification of potential partners and partnership negotiations to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach to meeting nutrition needs.
7. Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to prepare for and respond to nutrition needs, especially the production and review of training materials.
8. Guide junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries.
9. Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.
10. Other as required.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This incumbent is expected to operate with considerable independence in his duties and ensure that program and policy objectives are fully achieved. He will be involved in a wide variety of program and policy activities and analytical work, some of which may be of a considerable complexity. The job holder is expected to contribute to the program unit performance improvement through the management of the Strategic Outcome 3 of Burkina FASO Country Strategic Plan 2019_2023. He will manage a team of junior professional staffs.

To provide support to nutrition programs and activities contributing to meeting the nutritional needs of WFP beneficiaries as well as to policy formulation or oversight on program strategy and implementation

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Develop a database for distribution planning by targeted region including the number of beneficiaries to be assisted, the quantity of food to be distributed and the distribution period
2. Contribute to the development of nutrition survey tools and the monitoring of data collection and provide comments to the reports
3. Strengthen WFP's coordination and partnership with all partners including UN agencies involved in the health sector
4. Track the Nutrition project performance in partnership with the Ministry of Health, including resources absorption and the achievement of objectives
5. Participate in designing and preparation of WFP project documents.
6. In close collaboration with sub-offices, ensure monthly distributions and the preparation of monthly and annual reports for donors.
7. Work with the United Nations agencies and NGOs (national and international) to provide technical support in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition activities to the Ministry of Health entities and communities.
8. Realize field visits as part of monitoring of nutrition programs.
9. Represent WFP in nutrition meetings and Health subgroup activities (Health Technical Partner Cluster, SP / CNLS, HIV Thematic Group, CCM …).
10. Analyze nutrition data to ensure achievement of project objectives, and undertake actions to improve activities implementation and project management.
11. Support the Ministry of Health to plan and execute nutrition training programs.
12. Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation unit in preparation of monthly and annual reports and analyze reports submitted by partners (Ministry of Health, CNLS, and NGOs).
13. Coordinate with logistics for food delivery in nutrition sites.
14. Be the focal point for WFP in health sector.
15. Perform under supervision of Head of Programme any other tasks assigned by WFP.
