The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are seeking to fill an 11-month consultancy position as Business Engagement Consultant – Human Resources, based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

As part of WFP’s objective to transform key business areas digitally and continue the focus on data for decision making, the Business Engagement Consultant will manage the TEC relationship with Human Resources (HRM), Staff Wellness (RMW) and Security (RMQ) shaping their demand for technology to create a more efficient and effective organisation. The Consultant will build a deep understanding of these business areas, building trust through relationships with both operational and executive-level contacts to ensure that essential projects are prioritized and scheduled. Under the general supervision and guidance of the Head of Digital Transformation with functional reporting to the Global Business Engagement Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the following functions:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be a principal point of contact for the HRM, RMW and RMQ divisions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of their evolving business model, regardless of technology, updating the relevant Business Roadmap.
  • Understand new technology trends, forecast future requirements and guide business strategies to include a digital dimension.
  • Keep updated the overview of technology these teams are using, and how effective/fit for purpose it is, using the Portfolio Healthcheck template.
  • Understand the strategic direction and evolving capabilities of the business areas to shape legitimate demand and prioritise for scheduling.
  • Follow the tech development taking place outside of the TEC division in these teams to ensure all are registered and abiding by the framework for software development, support and maintenance.
  • Thoroughly understand existing TEC solutions and articulate their value to these business areas. Understand and communicate relevant new products, features and capabilities.
  • Liaise with other Business Engagement Managers in Regional Bureaus and in Headquarters to ensure an integrated, coherent approach to the technology/data used for HRM, RMW and RMQ in the field.
  • Include content from HRM, RMW and RMQ in key TEC events.
  • Occasional telecommuting might be required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, HR Management or related field.

Experience:

  • +6 years of relevant experience in human resources. Project management, and functional experience also helpful.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Innovative approach to increase internal & external knowledge;
  • Collaborative hands-on team member and relationship-builder with a facilitative nature and strong business partnering skills towards colleagues and stakeholders;
  • Strong project management skills, excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills to senior management on progress of project;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and drive sound business decisions;
  • Good knowledge of technology;
  • Ethics & Values, Client Orientation, Cognitive Capacity, Stress Resistance, Behavioural Flexibility;
  • General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration is an asset.

  Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written English is essential. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
