Operating since 2004 in Lebanon, DRC has addressed the needs and rights of vulnerable populations, working initially with Palestinian refugees (since 2004), Iraqi refugees (2007-2010), Lebanese IDPs (during the 2006 conflict), migrant domestic workers (since 2009) and, since 2011, responding to the Syrian refugee crisis.  
DRC Lebanon is currently delivering programming in protection, housing, infrastructure, basic assistance, livelihoods, and community development interventions. This myriad programming seeks to address the immediate needs of displaced populations and concurrently support vulnerable host populations. DRC has five offices spread throughout Lebanon in, Beirut, the Bekaa, Saida, Tripoli and Qobayat. 
In Bekaa you will find one of the most historical places in the world such as the Baalbak temple. It is also a safe and relaxing environment but at the same time very close to Beirut.

About the job 

Under the supervision of the Area Livelihood Manager in the Bekaa, the Livelihood Assistant will assist in ensuring that the construction works carried out are technically sound and in line with the required quality. The Livelihood Assistant will work closely with the team, project participants, service providers, skilled workers and municipal focal points to ensure quality implementation of the proposed project. He/She will lead the daily implementation taking place on field until the finalization of the planned intervention and the handover of the construction of the retention wall.
 
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Prepare a work schedule with the proper sequence of activities with a set duration and proper allocation of workmanship for each of the activities. 

• Supervision of daily site activities (steel fixing, formwork installation, concrete pouring and curing, etc…) to ensure that all the implemented works are in compliance with the designed BOQ and Technical Specifications. And monitor the progress of the project and keep it on track from a time and budgetary standpoint. 
• In close coordination with the other Livelihood Assistant, prepare for and conduct site mobilization activities. 
• Complete the daily attendance of participants and site workers, monitor their working hours and update the site journal. 
• Supervise the works of the Skilled, Unskilled workers. And ensure participants and workers are qualified and knowledgeable about their roles and complete assignments according to skill sets. 
• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safe operating procedures specific to the industry. 
• Submit daily, weekly reports and progress updates related to the project implementation. 
• Ensure that all the required Manpower, machines and machine operators, tools and necessary materials are all available on site on daily basis.  
• Monitor the consumption of project materials, equipment and refreshment dedicated for the project while ensuring good and relevant use of these materials.
 
About you 
To be successful in this role we expect you to have 2-3 years of experience working as foreman in construction sites and construction works related to infrastructure and superstructure works (especially retention walls). Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required  

• Experience in Steel Fixing, Formwork installation, concrete mixing, casting, curing and Testing (Site Concrete Test) and Stone masonry works. 
• Experience in working and coordinating with Land Surveyors. 
• Experience in reading specifications and BOQs; 
• Experience in leading a team of workers (Skilled and Unskilled). 
• Good communication skills with land owners, Municipalities, Moukhtars and Beneficiaries

We offer 

Contract length: Until 30th of November 2018 
Level:  B1, monthly basic salary 1250 USD  
Duty Station: Bekaa 
Start date: ASAP
