You will be joining a team of around 3000 staff in the Lebanon Field Office working to foster the human development of some 470,000 registered Palestine refugees.••

The Area Senior Finance Assistant will be responsible for:

The main responsibilities include:

Maintains bank and cash books and other records related to the financial operations in the Area, including monthly Area bank reconciliation and weekly cash count as required; maintains records related to the financial operations in the Area; receives cheques or cash on behalf of the Agency, raises cash or bank receipt vouchers, deposits funds in bank or delivers as required and records all receipts; Makes payments to suppliers, contractors, refugee beneficiaries of selective cash assistance, medical reimbursement and shelter repair either in cash or cheques; Pays salaries to the staff of casual labourers and temporary assistants; Provides budgetary and other financial assistance to the Area Officer pertaining to the Area; responds to staff members, suppliers and contractors' queries regarding their claims, invoices, entitlements and outstanding balances and provides them with financial statement as requested; Acts as custodian on the area imprest funds including the processing of imprest funds payments and the replenishment of imprest funds on a regular basis; Distributes monthly payslips to area staff members at area level and verifies the physical existence of recipients for audit purpose; Checks all cash payment vouchers received from the Finance Field Office for ensuring that they are appropriately approved and supported by proper documents; Assists the Paymaster in paying cash subsidies to SHC beneficiaries;•••• Drafts correspondence related to his/her functions;••••••• Reports to Field Finance Office on various Area financial issues affecting the Field's financial operations as a whole; Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Conditions of service•

Monthly basic salary L.L. 2,211,858

Other benefits include:

Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency)

Dependency allowances, Dependent spouse: L.L 60,000 per month

30 days of annual leave

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

A university degree in accountancy, finance, business administration or related discipline.

Work

experience

A minimum of two years' experience in accountancy, bookkeeping and financial matters.

Language(s)

Good command of spoken and written Arabic and English.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

•                   Ability to use a computer and work on various spreadsheet applications such as Excel and Access;

•                  Ability to cope with multiple tasks effectively;

•                  Effective written and oral communication;

•                  Ability to identify clients' needs and to offer appropriate solutions and establish and maintain productive partnership with clients.

Desirable Qualifications

•                  Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) proficiency at foundation level or any other professional qualification;

•                  Working experience with UNRWA Finance Management System (FMS) or other computerized finance system.
