OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
As part of Regional efforts to reduce the TB incidence and death, to support Member States in the sub region to contribute to designing and monitoring implementation of Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant TB (PMDT) and technical assistance (TA) missions; contribute to increased access to 2nd line anti-TB medicines by countries of the Africa Region and to contribute to full roll out of PMDT services in the countries of the region in order to accelerate reduction of morbidity and mortality associated with Drug resistant Tuberculosis in the respective countries and in the region.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the direct technical guidance of the TB Area of Work Focal point, the incumbent will \:--> Conduct strategic discussions with the Global TB GLC (Green Light Commitee) and the Global fund on the implementation of the New MoU between WHO and the Global fund. This includes regular strategic discussions with the Global fund Senior TB senior advisor and portfolio managers to identified area of support needed in countries for the expansion of PMDT Care--> Coordinate with GDF and other partners for access to 2nd line anti-TB medicines and new drugs for the countries of the African region--> Coordinate with the different partners involved in DR-TB activities in member states and conduct discussions with different countries eligible for GLC Support to identify appropriate thematic areas and timing for appropriate support to be provided to scale up DR-TB programmes --> Elaborate and submit plans for monitoring implementation of Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant TB (PMDT) and technical assistance (TA) missions for the Regional Green Light Committee (rGLC); --> Develop and implement a capacity building plan for PMDT in the region targeting Members states and consultants --> Developing and maintaining a rooster of consultants for country support missions;--> Coordinating peer review of different country DR-TB core documents to assess the quality and consistency of policy guidance and implementation tracking and oversight --> Maintaining a database of all mission reports for rGLC and PMDT , and share with National authorities and partners including following up on implementation of recommendations and action points;--> Preparing and submitting regular quarterly and annual rGLC reports as specified in the MOU; --> Any additional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential\: Medical Degree with Masters level post graduate in Public Health or Infectious Diseases.
Desirable\: Post-graduate qualifications in TB Control preferably with a focus on DR-TB.
Experience
Essential\: --> At least seven years' professional experience in public health working on TB related issues--> Demonstrated experience in managing public health related projects in partnership with multiple stakeholders, including governments, technical partners, and donors--> Experience in conducting TB related missions at country level and assessments on given technical areas relevant to the implementation of the End TB Strategy such as experience in providing direct technical assistance at country level with respect to national strategic planning, programme reviews and analysis of national TB and HIV programme performance.
Desirable\: --> Experience working within the WHO system --> Clinical experience in the management of DR-TB patients

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 71,332 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3353 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
