OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To provide technical support to the Ministry ofHealth in the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of communicable disease control activities.To collaborate with Royal Centre for Disease Control (RCDC) and the MoH in evaluation of the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) strategy.To support the MOH in the identification of priority of policy CDCintervention.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the overall guidance of WHO Representative, the incumbent will perform following duties\:

1.  Planning of interventions, in particular as they relate to update the. strategy through development, implementation and monitoring of programme at national level.

2.  Building of national capacity in Communicable Disease Control (CDC).

3.  Assistance on prevention and control of communicable disease particularly affecting target group, children, adolescents, and women.

4.  Coordination with institutions/agencies in the study on impact and cost-effectiveness of the CDC, to ensure timely implementation of interventions, dissemination and analysis of intermediate study results and the use of data for strengthened national implementation.

5.  Monitoring and supervision of CDC and identification of solutions for improved programme management and implementation.

6.  Evaluation CDC activities including through periodic programme reviews and surveys to assess the quality of case management at health facilities.

7.  Planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of CDC activities. This will include support for situation analysis, measurement of protective and risk factors, use of data for programme planning, and development of locally adapted tools and instruments.

8.  Coordination with partners, NGO, provision of periodic- and updates on progress in programme implementation, and support to the government in mobilization of resources for CDC.

9.  Perform other relevant outlets as may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: University degree in Medicine, health or relevant social sciences.
Desirable\: Postgraduate degree (master equivalent) in public health, epidemiology or related field would be an added advantage.

Experience

Essential\:  At least 2 years' experience in relevant areas. Some experience in formulating policies and managing planning and implementation of public health program
Desirable\: Familiarity with Government policies, priorities, structure and procedures on implementation of activities related to Communicable Disease Control.  Previous experience of working with WHO or other UN agencies is an advantage.

Skills

- Thorough knowledge on the country's needs and priorities in the area of Communicable Disease. - Ability to prepare and make technical presentations and reports.- Good knowledge of the administrative functioning of government ministries and other related departments/agencies; - Knowledge of WHO programmes and practices will be an added advantage.- Excellent report writing skills in English.

Other Skills (IT)\: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suit, and working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at BTN 645,357 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
