UNICEF is looking for a seasoned professional to support capacity development, monitoring CMAM program and zonal and woreda coordination related to nutrition emergency response in Oromia Region. Purpose

To support capacity development, monitoring CMAM program and zonal and woreda coordination related to nutrition emergency response in Oromia Region.

How can you make a difference?

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY, DUTIES & TASKS 

  • Represent UNICEF and participate in biweekly regional and zonal nutrition coordination meetings and follow key recommendations for UNICEF response and keep advocating for MAM – SAM continuum of care by NGOs partners
  • Periodically monitor the emergency in the region, conduct rapid assessment as required, ensure effective response plan is in place.
  • Ensure UNICEF resources (supply and budget) are timely disbursed and properly utilized
  • Ensure interventions are to the standards in UNICEF intervention areas.
  • Ensure CMAM-IYCF-E program implemented to the given quality and standard, focusing on emergency priority woredas. Building the capacity of the zonal and woreda health offices to provide supportive supervision and on the job mentoring of health workers and health extension workers on CMAM; and woreda health offices to manage and utilize CMAM data to monitor trends, performance and trigger response needed.
  • Support the reactivation and/or establishment of zonal and woreda level Health and Nutrition emergency coordination meetings; attend meetings and share minutes accordingly.
  • Ensure the correct distribution/ requests and use of the Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), therapeutic milks (F-75 & F-100) and Antibiotics. To ensure proper supplies management and avoiding supplies stock out at HP and HC level and to submit timely requests based on actual client flow in the CMAM (through the appropriate supply delivery/ request system in the region).
  • Ensure that the RHB and ENCU collected and compiled within given time,  analysis made to understand the situation focusing on hotspot woredas and emergency affected woredas and share with UNICEF.
  • Closely work with field support monitors, take report from monitors, do analysis and give feedback to Nutrition Specialist at Oromia FO. 
  • Regularly update training database, CMAM capacity mapping database, and produce intervention scales and gaps.
  • The consultant will be responsible for providing weekly situation update, monthly progress reports to UNICEF (Oromia FO nutrition Specialist) 
  • Execute other office works given by the Nutrition Specialist

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University Degree in Nutrition or Public Health or related fields
  • A minimum of Three (3) years of relevant professional experience in development or emergency nutrition (Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition and Moderate Acute Malnutrition, Infant and Young Child Feeding, and Micronutrients Supplementation).
  • Experience in working with UN or NGOs is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written). Good knowledge of the local language is an asst
