NRC in the Islamic Republic Iran

NRC started operations in Iran in 2012. We currently deliver humanitarian assistance in 9 provinces in the sectors of Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA). We co-lead several technical inter-agency working groups and provide capacity building to humanitarian partners in country. Next to our programs, NRC Iran also built an advocacy unit to develop joint messages and initiatives amongst INGOs to improve rights of the displaced.

Following several recent breakthroughs, NRC Iran is scaling up substantially its activities in support of the Government of Iran efforts towards an estimated 3,6 million Afghans residing in country and is expanding its programme unit.

About the position: Livelihoods and Food Security Officer for NRC Iran- (Kerman)

NRC is now seeking a dedicated/experienced Livelihood and Food Security Officer to achieve quality programming in Iran. The Livelihoods and Food Security Officer will support all Livelihood and Food Security activities under supervision of Area Manager in Kerman.

Are you NRC – Iran future Livelihoods and Food Security Officer in our Kerman team? NRC has a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated, hard worker and analytical thinker with a proven track record of efficient in Livelihood and Food Security field to give support to a rapidly expanding program.

Task Description

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Implement delegated project portfolio according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plan of action
  3. Conduct regular needs assessment, M&E visits and where possible inform and involve communities
  4. Prepare and develop periodic progress and status reports as required
  5. Ensure that projects targets beneficiaries most in need
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement especially with regards to targeting and inclusion of most vulnerable beneficiaries
  7. Ensure proper documentation of project files
  8. Explore partnership options with NGOs, Government, training institutions, UN agencies, and private sector
  9. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and in accordance with NRC procedures
  10. Support training of NRC and partners’ staff on LFS programming
  11. Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities

 Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 year of work experience in a humanitarian or development context
  • Strong Technical Core Competency expertise
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • University Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, nutrition or other relevant discipline
  • Ability to provide high quality technical analysis and assessments
  • Ability to produce high quality professional reports in English and Persian within short deadline

Contract duration/until: End of 2018 with extension possibility.
