Job Description
Over the past 80 years, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has developed unparalleled expertise in responding to emergencies and helping uprooted communities to rebuild. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. The IRC is on the ground in more than 40 countries, providing emergency relief, relocating refugees and rebuilding lives in the wake of disaster. The IRC Geneva office has a team of 17 staff working on sector-specific issues, including health, protection, governance, plus core functions such as policy and advocacy and grants management. Internship Overview: The IRC Geneva intern will work closely with the Head of the IRC Geneva office and the Director of Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy. S/he will engage with colleagues from across the organization to raise the profile of IRC Geneva, both internally and with external stakeholders. The intern will also help with general office coordination and support requests from IRC country programs. Main Tasks: Position reports to: Director of Humanitarian Policy Position directly supervises: Not applicable Internal contacts: IRC Geneva Office colleagues; Technical Units; International Programs Department; Communications and Policy & Advocacy departments. External contacts: ICVA working groups, Geneva-based humanitarian coalitions, peer INGOs.
